Mission, Core Values, & Ministry Priorities Statement
To Continue God's Work
by Being and Making Disciples of Jesus Christ...Everywhere!
Mission is the reason for our being. It is the why behind everything we do. And, while we are not where we want to be yet, this is hopefully the guiding principle behind everything that we do here at Tell City First United Methodist Church. In Matthew’s gospel, the 28th chapter, Jesus tells His disciples, and by extension us, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Mt 28:18-20 NLT). These words are the source behind our Mission which is, to continue God’s work by being and making disciples of Jesus Christ... Everywhere! It is our hope that everything we do here will move us towards this mission!
Core Values and Ministry Priorities
As we seek to live out the Mission “To Continue God’s work by Being and Making Disciples of Jesus Christ... Everywhere!” We have learned that things change. And, while change does not always have to be a bad thing, there should always be some things that are so vital to who an
organization is that they never change. To this end, we have found that we have 4 core values and 4 priorities here at Tell City First United Methodist Church.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Everything that we do will be rooted in and grow from the Bible.
We understand that we are to put the needs of others before our own needs and wants.
Connected in Christ
As Christians, we want everything that we do to be like a Family Reunion in faith.
We believe we must inspire each person to grow spiritually and invite others into God's family.
We hope to make worship more accessible to more people with more opportunities in more places.
We believe that the Church must be involved in strengthening and supporting all families.
Community and belonging are crucial requirements for Spiritual growth, this will happen in self-selected small groups.
We believe that Jesus has called us to join him in healing our community of all addictions.
